In scanning and restoring family photos recently, one pattern that emerged was my Dad and brother dressed in similar outfits in a number of photos.
This photo is from Easter, 1966:
This photo is also from 1966. I am somewhat obscuring my dad's outfit, but he's got tan shorts on.
Then there is this photo, clearly staged to show the identical outfits:
I am sure the "just like Dad" dressing was orchestrated by my mom - but it's not something I noticed or was aware of previously. It's kind of funny and cute to see these photos all together.
In putting together another iPhoto book for my Dad, I debated between including this photo and different photo taken at the same time. I wound up using the other photo.
But, I left this one in the scanner after I put the other photos away. Drake pulled it out today and propped it up on the bookshelf.
Now, I think I like this one better, just because it's a bit more spontaneous-looking.
Oh, how I loved playing in the snow. I always had a "snow suit" consisting of a jacket and overall-like snow pants. I never remember getting cold. When we would come in, mom would help us get out of clothes and put them right in the dryer. Then, we'd have a cup of hot cocoa.
This is my brother Paul and me ready to board at Washington National Airport. We had visited my Aunt Alice, who at the time was living in Alexandria, Virginia; we also visited Washington, D.C. and Williamsburg. Paul (who seems to be squinting) is wearing a tri-corner hat that he got in Williamsburg.
We are both dressed as people used to dress for air travel - in a suit and dress. I've topped off my ensemble with white gloves. I loved wearing white gloves when getting dressed up, but I can't remember whether this was something I emulated from my mom or I got on to on my own.
