First, there was the JC Penney's catalog from the 70's.
Then, classical album covers from the 70's
But wait, there's more. Great Olan Mills, Sears, and other studio portraits. Not all from the 70's but all amazing still.
Honestly, I don't think 1977 was that long ago. Yes, I was 20 years old, but wasn't that just, like, 10 years ago? Hmmm, maybe not after looking at these shots from the 1977 JC Penney catalog. But then again, did anyone really dress this way? Even then?

Last weekend I put an exhaust fan in the ceiling for my wife's grandfather. After a bunch of hours spent in The Hottest Attic In The Universe, he had a ceiling fan that ducted to the side of his house.
While my brother-in-law and I were fitting the fan in between the joists, we found something under the insulation. What we found was this: A JC Penney catalog from 1977.

This kit includes software for a Windows PC, a foam caveman-style hatchet and a U.S.B. motion sensor.
You affix the U.S.B. sensor to the back of your monitor. Then, the next time your PC starts driving you crazy, you grab the mallet and start pounding your screen. SMASH! CRASH! SHATTER! With each pound, realistic sounds and animations make it look like you're breaking the glass of the screen.
And then, on the fourth smash, the glass shards fall away to reveal what's really causing your computer problems: a roomful of juvenile, out-of-control monkeys.
O.K., how does someone even come up with something like this.and who'd believe in a product like this enough to bring it to market?
Well, whatever. I'm just glad someone did, because it's hilarious.
