As Drake will attest, I thrive within a structure of many little household routines. I have daily routines and weekly routines. The great thing about routines is that it ensures that the necessary details of life get taken care of on a regular basis. House cleaning, cooking, laundry, home office tasks -- all have their associated routines. I plug myself into the routine and do these tasks almost automagically -- very little thought and effort is required.
It's comforting to be back home and to be back in my normal routines.
My blog has been quiet because my Dad passed away on September 10. I was there with him and stayed on in Chicago through the visitation and memorial service, which were Sept. 21 and 22, respectively.
It's been a long summer-- a very long haul for my Dad and his wife Carol.
I'll be writing more later; right now I'm trying to settle back into being home.
