Yay for OCR
A couple of weeks ago, our old scanner went kaput. I wasn't sorry to see it go; the software that came with it was a struggle to work with and I never was able to get the OCR (optical character recognition) function to work at all (it must have been ancient because it always tried to launch OS 9 on my system).
I just tested the new scanner's OCR and it works like a charm. The reason this is so exciting is that I have a bunch of recipe printouts generated from archaic recipe software that I am no longer able to run. Many of these are recipes I developed when I had ambitions of publishing a cookbook. I've long wanted to get those back into digital (text) format.
This will be another nice little sedentary project I can work on while my leg heals up. I'll post some of my favorite recipes here on VOX.
