Violin as voice

I love a virtuoso concerto as well as any classical music fan, but what I absolutely adore about Joshua Bell is that he puts out such gorgeous recordings that depart from that repertoire. His latest, Voice of the Violin, has beautiful arrangements of vocal music transcribed for solo violin.

Drake brought this CD home and surprised me with it as I was stretching this morning after my run.

Joshua Bell is so talented it makes me sick! I hate how he can make it sound like all he does is pull the music out of the violin and not actually play it.

He seems like a pretty cool guy, too. After his concerts in Seattle he has stayed afterwards to sign CDs in the lobby. Not very many artists do that.

I do think they Photoshopped him a bit much on the cover of this CD. He looks plastic to me. He is naturally a very nice looking guy - no Photoshop required IMO.

Haha... Sometimes photoshoppers get a little too crazy. He looks oddly flawless on the cover, almost like an alien or something. A stepford wife perhaps. Minus the dress. And minus the 50s hairstyle.

His eyes look like a doll's to me - not human eyes. Maybe they used the Joshua Bell Action Figure for the cover?
