The weather has been frightful
Saturday, there was snow.
Sunday, there was rain. Heavy rain.
Monday was the deluge:
Even our micro-commute (2.5 miles to downtown) on Monday was plagued by standing water. Midway through, Drake's van started to stall. He got me dropped off and made it to his shop, but barely. And then the van wouldn't start again (it's been subsequently towed to the repair shop).
The silver cloud of severe winter weather is normally snow in the mountains (skiing!). But in this case, Stevens got 50 inches over the weekend, almost all of which was washed away by the warm, driving rain Monday.
I-5 between Seattle and Portland is closed for 20 miles because the highway is underwater. It's expected to be closed through the weekend at least. As Drake says: commerce is interrupted.

I'm going to buy flight ticket to Seattle one day earlier than I planned just in case the weather gets horrible...
