Start doing just one thing

Very good advice. I remember when my friend died in high school; the next morning in physics class (where he used to sit right behind me) I took the most diligent notes ever; normally I'd be joking with my friend and blowing off the notes.

It's not easy to *consciously* carry on, but it's kinda like getting up after tripping during a run - the first few steps are deliberate and painful and it's tempting to stop; but once we get back into our rhythm then it becomes easier to keep going.
