Oceanside Knitter's Retreat vs. Las Vegas Convention

Right now I'm working on a great project at work: interesting system, super project team. Good news yesterday is that they want to extend the project a month and include some additional research.

But my heart sunk when they suggested we do the research at an upcoming convention. A great idea -- but the timing of the convention (in Vegas) is in direct conflict with my plans to attend a knitter's retreat at the beautiful seaside resort Semiahmoo. And so there it is: what was planned as a relax/renewal weekend will be spent instead among the clanging slots and neon lights of Vegas.

I know, I can plan my own little retreat. But, it wouldn't include the friendly folks from my local knit shop, the instructional sessions, and the company of other knitters. Guess I'll hope for next year...

Aww.. it's too bad that you can't go to the knitter's retreat! I do think that Vegas is an awesomely fun place to go (even without being a gambler), so I know you will find something awesome to do there anyway!

Oh my. I know which one I'd prefer. I'm just not a Vegas-type girl. Sorry you have to miss it!

Yeah, I'm not much of a Vegas person either, but it is certainly an experience. In my previous professional life, I went their regularly, since we had a big customer there. But that was in the days of the "Family Friendly" Vegas - when they were trying to turn it into a family destination. Now, it's "What Happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas". There are some very fine restaurants there, so I will probably at least treat myself to a special meal.
