New project tomorrow
Before I left for P_Lake I finished up the project I've been working on since February. Finishing a consulting engagement is almost always bittersweet--it's a great sense of accomplishment handing over the final deliverables, the fruit of the team's collective efforts. But, over the months, you get to know and like people and then it's time to move on. It's a little sad.
Then, there is the new project on the horizon, which for me starts tomorrow. Unfamiliar people and unfamiliar system and that initial feeling of "Will I ever really understand this system?" I'll be working to design another highly specialized software application- the first week is always tough getting up to speed on what I need to know. And at the same time you are trying to figure out the client, their working and communication style. It's both exciting and a little anxiety-producing. I always get over the hump, but it's a hump none the less.
