Dressed up in shorts

I was laughing out loud reading this article about the supposed hot new trend for men: dress shorts with a matching suit jacket.

The dressed-up shorts trend, pitched for spring 2007, already is making some retailers, not to mention regular guys, nervous.

"You can only take things so far," says Colby McWilliams, men's fashion director at Neiman Marcus in Dallas, who has misgivings about displaying the look. "Most people walking the streets of Dallas would be shocked if they saw someone in shorts and a sport coat."

Dressed for success - or something

Drake asked me what I was reading and so I showed him the picture and explained, "stores are reluctant to carry these suits..." and he finished my sentence: "...because they are ridiculous." I don't know why these "short suits" struck me as so funny. Maybe because they remind me of the little suits my brother wore when he was small.
