Dow Jones Dies
When I was 7 or 8, I created a household newspaper designed to keep my family updated on world events (events I mostly made-up).
One issue lead with the headline "Dow Jones Dies", complete with a crayon drawing of a graveyard, including a detailed drawing of Dow Jones' gravestone (RIP Dow Jones). I had made the seemingly reasonable assumption that Dow Jones was a person. My parents found this quite funny and it and became a bit of a family joke.
It seems, however, that my headline was just 42 years or so ahead of its time.
News Corp. reached a tentative agreement for the purchase of Dow Jones & Co. at its original $5 billion offer price. The deal will be put to the full Dow Jones board Tuesday evening for its approval, said people familiar with the situation.
