Dad, 1952
This photo was taken by my Dad's close friend (and photographer) Jim DeWitt. It's actually a more recent print from the original 1952 negative. My Dad here is 25 years old, studying at Art Institute of Chicago, where he later earned his M.F.A.
My Dad's had a rough couple of weeks. A kidney blockage, operation to install a kidney stent to resolve that, a subsequent infection that landed him in the hospital. They are going to give him about a week to regain some strength and then start chemotherapy (Taxotere) for his prostate cancer. The cancer is moving now more aggressively in the bone and the Taxotere will hopefully slow that growth. I talked to him today and he sounds much stronger and in good spirits. He's very happy to be out of the hospital and home. His appetite is back and he's working on some nice high calorie food to get some weight back on.

Glad you got to meet Jim! And I am so glad Alice is in Madison now.
